Fish and Grandkids

When most of our community is still asleep, Lisa is already at work.

For more than 11 years, Lisa has been a dedicated custodian for Rangely School District, playing a key role in keeping our schools clean, safe, and ready for students and staff each day. She often arrives as early as 2:00 a.m. so she can complete work that needs to happen before the school day begins, ensuring classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and common spaces are prepared for learning.

Lisa’s work goes far beyond routine cleaning. Her role includes deep cleaning carpets, maintaining restrooms, painting and touch-up projects, assembling furniture, responding to unexpected messes, and addressing maintenance needs that arise in a busy school environment. She also takes the initiative to clean and care for areas most people never notice, because she believes every detail matters when it comes to student health and safety.

While Lisa takes her responsibilities seriously, she is also known for her sense of humor and positive attitude. She brings energy and laughter to her work and to the people around her, helping create a welcoming environment behind the scenes. That balance of hard work and good humor has made her a valued member of the school community.

Like many people, Lisa has faced personal challenges, but she continues to show up and give her best effort every day. She takes pride in knowing that if something needs to be done, she will take care of it. Because of that commitment, students and staff arrive each morning to clean, safe spaces that support learning and well-being.

Lisa appreciates working in a school setting where no two days are the same. She enjoys moving between buildings and connecting with students and staff, whether that means helping where needed or simply taking a moment to talk. Over the years, those small interactions have become meaningful reminders of why her work matters.

When asked what advice she would give someone new to custodial work, Lisa’s response was simple and practical: do the job well, be thorough, and have some fun along the way.

We are grateful to Lisa for the early mornings, the attention to detail, and the pride she brings to keeping our schools clean and safe. Her work is an important part of creating the learning environments our students and community expect and deserve.
