Threat Assessment Training

Nine team members from the school district, along with three officers from the Rangely Police Department, participated in a six-hour training session provided by the Colorado Office of School Safety. The session aimed to form a proficient threat assessment team comprising administrators, mental health professionals, and law enforcement professionals—crucial components of a comprehensive violence prevention program in schools. The training covered the importance of threat assessment, insights from U.S. Secret Service research, and detailed procedures for conducting assessments at schools. It also included scenario discussions and offered best practice protocols.  This process, which we have been utilizing, allowed us to learn, share, and improve our procedures. The training was delivered by the CSSRC’s experienced team.
