  • Stone Soup for November

During the month of November as we head into Thanksgiving, I present students with many different thoughts of why they need to be thankful for what they have. We discuss needs versus wants and eventually write about what we are thankful for. In doing so, the story "Stone Soup" brings together strangers and they share friendship in a different way, a way that I believe students will comprehend. Thus: we will be making stone soup in our classroom on November 21st (turkey dinner will be served on the 22nd for school lunch). We have letters to go out and invite your student to bring an item that will add to our soup. It will be served about 11:15 on that day for lunch. If your student doesn't like the ingredients, they are welcome to bring in their own lunch and still eat with us at that time. Thank you for supporting our school and your students' learning!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.

Welcome back to the 2011-2012 school year. We have a wonderful year planned with our new Principal, Ms. Linda Bennett. I am looking forward to working with my students to provide you the best academic year possible. We have new standards to learn, new and exciting learning, as well as lots of get acquainted activities. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Here are a few items as a reminder for students in my class:
Supply list items plus marbled composition notebook
    Shoes for recess and PE
Parents, don't forget to think about helping out in the classroom during your free time, and/or holidays.

Have a great end of summer and I'll look forward to meeting you and your child on August 15 or 16 for testing.
    Ms. Hernandez
