1. Wellness Committee – Mrs. Mary Ann Allred, Mrs. Judy Allred
Mrs. Judy Allred reported for the wellness committee.  The Wellness Committee is looking to add two High School students.  The Wellness Committee policy is posted on the school website. The wellness policy synopsis has been placed in the student handbook.  The committee reviews policy, sets goals and makes suggestions.
The Wellness Committee has three goals –
1. Provide community awareness, inform the PAC committees, and to provide the community wellness tips (this is done via the school news letters).
2. The committee will have a school wide health fair.
3. School Lunch Program – The students filled out a survey that showed interest in purchasing a-la-carte.
PAC’s role – Help identify areas of strength and areas of concern, recommend and review goals, help with health fairs, search and write grants, and serve as allies with the committee.

2. Breakfast / Snack Program
First thing in the morning the students are given the opportunity to get a breakfast bar.  The breakfast bars are funded by the drink machine. Mr. Day would like to add a pint of milk to the breakfast bar that would be funded by the budget.  The committee was positive about adding the milk.

3. Attendance Review
Attendance for the school is at 95%.  Students with less than 85% attendance is due to two problems – 4 students with health/illness and 1 student absent hunting. Students with less than 90% attendance were absent for  (8 students) illness/health and  (6 students) hunting.

4. Rewards for Improvement on Progress monitoring Assessments
There are a few students who will not give an honest effort for the MAP and AIMS Web.  Mr. Day would like to develop a system of rewards – the rewards would tie on to the student’s competitive nature.  A group or individual could have an ice cream social that showed the most growth (not the highest score).  Mrs. Ward and Mr. Day asked for ideas for rewards.  MAPS lends well to group rewards, AIMS works better for individual rewards.  The middle school has given coupons for Subway.  Committee members could e-mail ideas.
The middle school would also like to give positive behavior rewards.  The teachers would have tickets to give the students, the students would put their tickets into a bin and the students would be drawn for a meaningful reward (MP3 players etc.).  Mr. Day charged the committee to think about how the committee feels philosophically.  Mrs. Staley asked if there would be subjective criteria for the tickets.  It was discussed that it would have to be objective and the staff would have to discuss how and why the tickets would be handed out.

5. Review Lockdown for Middle School
Teachers and students did not know when the lock down would happen.  The police came and the police evacuated the students.

6. Acronyms
FAPE – Free Appropriate Public Education – the schools have a responsibility to provide an education for all children.
LRE – Least Restrictive Environment – Children need to be educated in the least restrictive environment and can be successful.
