Parent Advisory Committee - March 26, 2008

1. Attendance Review
Attendance up to Spring Break – 6th 94%, 7th 94.2%, 8th 93.1% Overall 93.9%
2. Positive Behavior Supports –
Positive Behaviors – The student referrals have been tracked and the Rec Center reward has been having a good effect. At the beginning of the program there were 20 students who did not go, the last month only 14 did not go.
3. HB 1118 – Additional Concepts
Mrs. Staley did not feel that the community is not knowledgeable enough to comment on the standards unless they have students in school or are educators. Mr. Dillon asked about college bound versus vocational focus in the curriculum.
Mr. Dillon brought up Personal Finance, Consumerism. Also brought up are basic understanding civil/ individual laws. Social responsibility as tied with civil law.
4. CSAP – How are things going.
8th grade is making a good effort. The 6th grade has been taking their time and working hard. 7th grade is working well.
5. PAC Goals and Progress
At the end of the year the committee has to write a summery of how the Middle School. Mr. Day asked the committee to come next meeting with ideas for goals for next year.
6. Potential Capital Bond – Committee Representative
Mr. Day will email the PAC Committee to ask for a person willing to be on the School Board’s Bond Committee.
7. Administrative Transition
Because a math teacher at the High School had to be placed on leave, Mr. Day will be teaching. Mrs. Ward will be the acting Principal.
