RMS PAC Minutes
Monday, May 5
Attendance: Amy Ward, Chris Denny, Teresa Staley, and Jolene Carlson
- Mr. Day presented the new accreditation procedure.
- The main difference is that student CSAP scores will be compared to students who score similarly to determine growth rather than with all students of the same grade.
- Attendance goals
- The discussion centered around the attendance goal of 95% and the fact that current student attendance overall is at 93.6%.
- PAC Goals
- The committee decided to accept the same goals for the 2008-2009 school year.
- Discussion: The question was brought up: “Can failing grades for a midterm or report card roll over to the next season or year.
- The parents on the committee like the eligibility criteria but voiced their concern that ineligibility should be longer lasting at the middle school. The current procedure is that if a student is ineligible they have until the day before the event to bring up their grade. Ineligibility last for only one week.
- Parents also wished that we could get some kind of skateboard club organized to involve more kids in middle school activities.
- School Safety
- The parents again brought up a desire to have a window put in the sidewall of the office for better visibility of those coming to and leaving the building.
- The parents also suggested that signage should be placed on the front door to remind people to sign in at the office.
- Superintendent search
- Teresa Staley volunteered to be the middle school’s parent representative. However she is also represented BOCES classified staff. Jolene Carlson will be the “back up” parent in case we need a separate person for the committee.
