RMS PAC Minutes
Monday, May 5

Attendance:  Amy Ward, Chris Denny, Teresa Staley, and Jolene Carlson

  1. Mr. Day presented the new accreditation procedure.
    1. The main difference is that student CSAP scores will be compared to students who score similarly to determine growth rather than with all students of the same grade.
  1. Attendance goals
    1. The discussion centered around the attendance goal of 95% and the fact that current student attendance overall is at 93.6%.
  1. PAC Goals
    1. The committee decided to accept the same goals for the 2008-2009 school year.
      1. Discussion:  The question was brought up:  “Can failing grades for a midterm or report card roll over to the next season or year.
        1. The parents on the committee like the eligibility criteria but voiced their concern that ineligibility should be longer lasting at the middle school.  The current procedure is that if a student is ineligible they have until the day before the event to bring up their grade.  Ineligibility last for only one week.
        2. Parents also wished that we could get some kind of skateboard club organized to involve more kids in middle school activities.
  1. School Safety
    1. The parents again brought up a desire to have a window put in the sidewall of the office for better visibility of those coming to and leaving the building.
    2. The parents also suggested that signage should be placed on the front door to remind people to sign in at the office.
  1. Superintendent search
    1. Teresa Staley volunteered to be the middle school’s parent representative.  However she is also represented BOCES classified staff. Jolene Carlson will be the “back up” parent in case we need a separate person for the committee.
